Schiavo Library: September 2015 Newsletter

Schiavo Library: September 2015 Newsletter

Used Book Sale:
Our sixth annual end of summer book sale is happening now! Come on in for some great buys. The sale goes until September 26th.

New Trends for Relaxing:
This summer we had a program on Meditation and Relaxation given by Marya Small. It was very well received and we hope she’ll be back again next summer – maybe for more than one session.
But if you would like something different to help you relax this winter, you may want to try one of these two new trends: coloring books for adults or Zentangle.
Any book store will have lots of choices of coloring books and of course, you can find them online too. The relaxation is supposed to come while you concentrate on filling in the intricate designs with colored pencils or pens. Zentangle is the art of drawing structured patterns and is supposed to be calming and creative. It’s done with black pens on white paper.
Here are some examples of both:

Summer Wrap-up:
This summer we had a great time at the Terrapin Release Program with 133 attending and many donating towards next year’s program. The Family Scavenger Hunt turned into a super competition between 2 families. Lots of laughs! Hope you had a great summer, too!!

September News:
*September is “Amnesty Month.” NO FINES are collected for overdue books!
*September returns to normal off season hours – NO Thursday evening hours.
*Mah Jongg continues here on Wednesdays at 10:00am. Come in and join the players!
