Schiavo Library: May 2015 Newsletter

Schiavo Library: May 2015 Newsletter

Used Book Sale:
Our SIXTH annual “Welcome Summer” Used Book Sale is scheduled for May 22 – June 13th. It looks like it will be a great sale this year. We even have some antique books for sale. Our hours are 10 - 4pm Tuesday – Saturday. Most books and other media are very reasonably priced ($.25 to $1.00). For more information call the library: (609) 486-6265 or email us: info@strathmerelibrary.org

Computer and WIFI Updates:
We’ve been busy this winter updating our computers and WIFI network. We now have two networks for WIFI and a stronger signal. The patron computers have new batteries, Windows 7, all updates, Office 2010 and Adobe. Hopefully, this will mean less problems and faster downloading, etc.

 “Choose Privacy Week”
This week, May 1- 7, the American Library Association is sponsoring “Choose Privacy Week”. They urge library patrons to be vigilant and informed about protecting privacy when using public computers or public WIFI networks. For more information about this important subject, go to their website: https://chooseprivacyweek.org You’ll also find information there about the latest rulings that concern our everyday privacy.

Sneak Peek – Summer Programs:
We’re still tweaking our summer schedule, but here are some of our ideas:
•Special themes for story times: pirate, pet day, fairy tales, beach day, etc.
•A daytime lecture series for adults featuring “Our Night Sky”, Optimizing Brain Fitness”, and “An Introduction to Genealogy”.
•Movie Night for Kids
